Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP on the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012 after she released her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently launched single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole had her sing her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate with her on some references. She officially was signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, called Whipped Cream, from the album dropped on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a the music video. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. She appeared with Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then released the song as a solo single on the album she released her debut. In February of 2019, a music clip was released for the song. The track has received over three million views on YouTube in its first week. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
